I MUST LIVE!

About this episode

I spoke with Kirc (aka Jerome) from My S01d Out Reverie (M01E), and he shared with me his perspective on the creation of the band's music videos "我要活" and "GUTS" from their album 新青年 - THE NEW YOUTH / S02E01.

We talk about the Chinese film New Women (1935), songwriting, setting, costumes, and the color red.

About This Episode

I made a divine pull from musician Max Francis' vinyl collection that's on sale at Myrtle Wombat. The chosen record for this episode is Ry Cooder Chicken Skin Music, with a D20 chance roll to let the spirits decide what track to listen to, and it landed on "Chloe" (1976).

Lyrics

'Chlo-e! Chlo-e!'
Someone calling, no reply.
Night shade's falling, hear him sigh.
'Chlo-e! Chlo-e!'
Empty spaces meet his eyes.
Empty Arms outstretched, he's crying.....
Through the black of night,
I got to go where you are.
If it's wrong or right,
I got to go where you are.
I'll roam through the dismal swamp land
searching for you,
'Cause if you are lost there,
let me be there too.
Through the smoke and flames,
I got to go where you are,
For no place could be too far,
where you are.
Ain't no chains can bind you,
If If you live, I'll find you,
Love is calling me.
I got to go where you are.

Just wake up!

About

  • Why do we dream?

  • Where do we go when we are dreaming?

  • How is the mind affected by dream state when we are awake?

  • How do you know if you are awake right now?

  • What is the time in our dreams?

  • How does dreamtime influence waking life?

In this week's episode of Moon Apothecary Radio, I invite Armenian correspondent, ASonic, on the show to find answers through the concepts of dream and time in Richard Linklater's film Waking Life (2001). We explore these concepts and how they apply to real life by sharing examples from our past experiences.

The Correspondent

ASonic lives in Armenia with his cat, Nala. He loves the band Dire Straits and has an eclectic taste in music. His favorite film directors are Ingmar Bergman and Andrei Tarkovsky. He is a full-time translator and host of the Discord community “The Life of the Mind 3.1”. He enjoys playing guitar and video games in his free time and collects Lord of the Rings Legos. He laments that he still does not have a Gollum in his collection.
